The Four Characters of Lexicomedy.
The Web Series Lexicomedy revolves mainly around an epistolary exchange between Fussy Zaroor and Pankaj Khanna—two persons separated by generations but united by an unhealthy fascination with words.
In theory, Legsy Suroor is the official Footnote Officer, entrusted with supplying scholarly notes to the epistles exchanged between Fussy and Pankaj.
In practice, scholarship rarely gets past her desk.
Being an ardent admirer of the Cockroach Janta Party, Legsy's footnotes ( known in the series as Legsy Notes) invariably crawl away from Lexicomedy and into the fascinating world of Cockroaches.
Then there is Pak Jan, who contributes anagrams, political satire and occasional lexical wisdom; usually in proportions that no responsible editor would approve.
Mercifully, the entire Web Series has only four characters. Any more, and even the Ministry of Grandiloquance would have needed an Aadhaar-enabled attendance register.
Meet the Fabulous Four in Lexicomedy Universe where Words Get Fussy, Puns Get Legsy, and the Alphabet Gets a Pak Jan Makeover:
1. Fussy Zaroor
A highly successful young Management Professional, an unabashed admirer of Shashi Tharoor, and an aspiring writer and editor.
She possesses everything required of a future literary celebrity—ambition, vocabulary, confidence and, occasionally, the alarming belief that Pankaj can still be edited.
Fussy enters the Series in Episode 3, and from that moment onward, Pankaj's peaceful existence as an obscure blogger becomes considerably less peaceful and considerably more lexical.
2. Legsy Suroor
A Generation Z PhD student whose doctoral research occasionally interferes with her primary academic interests: protests, placards, profanity and pests (Cockroaches).
She is impressively bilingual in profanity, being equally fluent in abusive Hindi and English, and considers Protest with Profanity not merely a democratic privilege but something approaching a fundamental birthright.
Legsy is an enthusiastic admirer of Kejriwal and the Cockroaches and an equally enthusiastic critic of Modi and Shah.
Like many other Delhi-based Roach Scholars, she too relishes the opportunity to hurl abuses at Modi on camera apparently mistaking public profanity for intellectual prowess!
Her official duty is to write footnotes.
Her unofficial mission is to ensure that every footnote eventually acquires six legs and antennae.
Legsy Suroor and the Cockroach Janta Party enter in the web series with the Episode 10 and they remain prominent since then.
Legsy also issues Cockroaches' 'Hall of Fame' Citations to their Founders and Friends.( Please don't miss to read the hilarious Citations.)
3. Pankaj Khanna
He is just a blogger.
To know anything more about him, please read the description provided at the end of any of his letters addressed to Fussy Zaroor.
Those suffering from excessive leisure, chronic curiosity or an inexplicable disregard for productive use of time may also explore his collection of Eclectic Blogs.
Readers with important work pending are strongly advised against it.
The 'Management' accepts no responsibility for deadlines missed after entering the Pankajian rabbit hole known as Eclectic Blogs.
4. Pak Jan
An eighty-year-old Parsi lady, settled in the United States in late seventies but originally from Parsi Mohalla, Indore.
She is Pankaj's mentor, occasional tormentor, lexical adviser and supplier of politically radioactive anagrams.
Her name, Pak Jan—pronounced Paak Jaan—is itself an anagram of Pankaj.
That should have been sufficient warning.
Pak Jan enters the Series in Episode 5 and promptly establishes herself as its resident authority on anagrams, political satire, Lexicomedy and unsolicited wisdom.
At eighty, she has acquired the one qualification unavailable to the remaining three characters:
the absolute freedom to say whatever she pleases—and blame it on experience.
And thus the Ministry of Grandiloquance operates with a remarkably economical staff:
Fussy writes.
Pankaj replies.
Legsy footnotes the Cockroaches.
Pak Jan rearranges the alphabet—and occasionally the political establishment.
Together, they constitute the entire population of Lexicomedy.
Four characters.
One Season.
Twenty-seven Episodes.
Thousands of words.
Scores of Cartoons and Panktoons.
Tens, if not tons, of Anagrams.
Several Cockroaches.
Eight 'Hall of Fame' Cockroach Citations. ( To see the list click here.)
And mercifully not a single responsible adult in sight to stop the four's non-sense!
With love
