Episode 8: Resentment in Lexically Weaker Section.

Dear Ms Fussy Zaroor,

First and foremost, permit me to express my profound gratitude for your extraordinary generosity in choosing appreciation over ridicule. Such magnanimity, in this unfortunate age of effortless cynicism, deserves nothing short of a standing ovation — preferably followed by a brief committee meeting.

My equally heartfelt felicitations are due to you for bequeathing to the English language the magnificent neologism “Tharoorgeoisie.”

I had fully intended to continue our discussion on the Tharoorgeoisie. Unfortunately, that discussion will have to remain pending until our next epistle, owing to a rather serious development.

There is a rebellion brewing.

I have reliably learnt that considerable resentment is now simmering among humans, canines, felines, cattle, cocks, and even our celebrated cockroaches.

Apparently, all of them have had enough of our Lexicomedian excesses.

I am really surprised. There are only two writers and two readers of Lexicomedy.

Who leaked our classified epistles?

Clearly, if we are to survive in the increasingly hostile ecosystem of Lexicomedy, our linguistic strategy must undergo an immediate and suitably grandiloquent revision.

I have further learnt — from sources which I shall diplomatically describe as highly reliable — that members of the Ruling Party, Opposition Parties, various animals, and several celebrated insects are assembling at Jantar Mantar.

They are reportedly protesting under the banner of the Government-recognised Lexically Weaker Section against what they are calling our Lexicomedical language.

I must confess that the word Lexicomedical has already caused considerable distress among the protesters.

Nobody knows what it means.

Which, naturally, has made matters considerably worse.

I have also reliably learnt that only Saar has chosen to stay away from the protest.

Why Saar has remained silent is, at present, beyond my lexical competence to fathom.

We must therefore act immediately.

I suggest that we march to Jantar Mantar ourselves and assuage the feelings of the Lexically Weaker Section before the situation magnifies beyond grammatical control.

Perhaps, for the sake of peace, harmony, and the continued survival of our blog, we should also consider adopting a radical new policy:

We should start writing in normal, plain English.

I realise that this is a shocking proposal.

It may even be considered anti-Lexicomedian.

But desperate times call for desperate vocabulary.

Suffice it to say, Lexicomedy is in grave danger.

Please do something urgently.

Before the cockroaches form a committee.

Yours in lexical distress with a long face and short fuse

Foot Notes and Foot Prints of Pak Jan

Pankaj is certainly lexically weak when compared to his alter ego, but anagrammatically, the Lexically weak is waxy like a cell—though that may be an entirely unnecessary biological observation.

So, you think this anagram makes no sense? Well, that is precisely the point. The same is the case with Lexicomedy—and that, we enjoy for sure!

Consider this tangible evidence that I don't just occupy space and drink the office coffee. Presenting the Anagram poster.
