For Binge reading of Season 1, you may start with Episode 1 . For New Readers: Introduction of the four Characters of Lexicomedy.)  Dear Professor Pun-kaj, Professor, you have accomplished something no reviewer has previously managed—you have persuaded me to speak about myself. I was an only child, raised by a mother whose resources were often modest but whose ambitions for my education were magnificently extravagant. Academics happened to be the one arena in which I rarely felt tongue-tied. My examination results were kind enough to open the doors of both IIT and IIM. Long before I began correcting your equations, I had quietly been reading your blogs—Love Thy Numbers,  CAT-a-LOG, and Epeolatry. And later on Love Thy Squares. Looking back, I now realise that you had been practising Leximathocomedy long b...

Click here for the Previous Episode 25 Dear Ms. Fussy Zaroor, First of all, let me thank you for something rather unexpected. Thank you for converting what had long remained my favourite childhood embarrassment into my favourite childhood anecdote. Only a discerning Editor could perform such an elegant editorial transformation. I had imagined I was merely writing to an Editor. Somewhere along the way, without either of us quite noticing, I seem to have acquired a Fellow Traveller. And I must confess that the journey has become considerably more enjoyable ever since. Now that you have graciously accepted your citizenship in the curious Republic of Lexicomedy , I find myself at a slight disadvantage. Through my blogs, letters and assorted mathematical eccentricities, you have come to know a fair amount about me. The traffic, however, has been almost entirely one-way. Permit me, therefore, a few impertinently curious questions. How did a spirited daughter of...

Click here for the previous Episode 24 Dear Professor Pun-kaj , Your latest epistle has presented me with a dilemma of the most agreeable variety. As your Editor, I ought to have returned it adorned with my customary crop of annotations, corrections, caveats and carefully cultivated exasperation. As your fellow Lexicomedienne, however, I found myself smiling so persistently that my red pencil resigned in protest. You have, I fear, succeeded in making collaboration seem almost as enjoyable as criticism. Please try not to make a habit of it. I was particularly amused by your touching confidence that I should immediately object to the phrase "Sedentary Comedy." Permit me to reassure you. Your confidence was entirely justified. The expression is perfectly respectable. That, unfortunately, is precisely its problem. Respectability has never been the principal ambition of Lexicomedy. Nor, I suspect, of its principal practitioners. Sedentary Comedy is accurate.  is charm...
